This case stems from a trip and fall incident at an apartment complex. The client was 77 years old and while walking into her own unit, the worn down and dangerous metal threshold came loose, causing her to fall backwards and hit her head on the concrete floor. The result was a mild traumatic brain injury. The defense denied all liability and said that our client never reported the broken threshold into her own apartment. In litigation, our team was able to establish that defendants had a duty to inspect their premises and should have known and repaired the defective conditions. The case settled for $1.65 million less than one year into litigation.
