Our office was brought in as trial counsel after the best offer on the table of $250,000 was rejected by the client. Our trial team was actually the 3rd set of attorneys on the file. This was a case involving a box truck that passed too closely to a bicycle rider on the street and subsequently caused the rider to lose control and crash. Our client had lumbar surgery as a result of the collision. Defense argued that the bike rider came off the sidewalk and was at fault. An unidentified witness who only gave his first name and no other information told a different story according to a police report. Three years after the incident our firm was able to track down this witness who told us that he spoke with the insurance company previously and provided them his story (which they failed to disclose). Once the cat was out of the bag they immediately agree to pay the insurance policy limits of one million dollars just days before commencing trial.
