About Raffi
Personal Bio
As an associate attorney at SHK Law, I am dedicated to leveraging technology for a more accessible legal system. I actively work towards making justice practical and within reach, employing artificial intelligence (“AI”) in pattern recognition and predictive analytics, particularly in challenging big insurance companies that increasingly use AI technology against clients.
With an academic background in science and technology and a diverse skill set spanning team sports to student government leadership, I earned a scholarship to UC Riverside for their pre-med biochemistry program. Despite facing challenges, like a temporary wheelchair-bound period after a motorcycle accident, I graduated from California State University, Northridge with the support of my fellow Matadors who helped me in turn in my school work during my final month before graduation.
I am grateful to those who stopped to assist me immediately after the collision, including drivers, first responders, and the emergency crews who stabilized me. After recovering from back-to-back surgeries, I completed law school at Ventura College of Law, where I met my wife, while balancing a full-time role as a Medicare Compliance and HIPAA/HITECH Privacy Officer for a medical device retailer.
Having grown up in Southern California and gaining insights from prior opportunities in litigation and transactional law, I bring directly translatable skills to our team from familiarity with the local personal injury landscape. That experience includes navigating court proceedings to establish special needs trusts or in some instances contested guardianships and conservatorships, involving personal injury settlements from vaccine injuries. This specific skill set underscores my ability to address specific and nuanced challenges relevant to our practice, such as settlement reductions, long-term care planning, or structured settlement planning.
My practice at SHK involves the handling of all aspects of pre-litigation claims, from initiation of a claim, to helping our clients get the treatment they need, to settlement and resolution. I also specialize in guardianship matters and post-judgment enforcement.
Passionate about social progress, I engaged in externship projects like Loyola Law School’s Disability Rights Legal Center. Their mission is part of my commitment to expanding legal access for low- and moderate-income Californians. Having the experience of practicing personal injury law, I am humbled by the opportunity to expand legal access every day because I am blessed with the chance to work for my clients on a contingency fee arrangement. Family and service to the community are central to my values reinforcing the importance of hard work, integrity, and compassion.
As my journey practicing personal injury law continues to unfold, I don’t just consider myself a legal professional. By being a better version of myself each day as a husband, a counselor at law, a colleague, a son, and a poised adversary, I can continue to relate to my clients from the recovery perspective and represent them with a “don’t back down” attitude. In the words of Kobe Bryant, “Everything negative – pressure, challenges – is all an opportunity for me to rise.
