Our office had the privilege to represent the family of a young man who lost his life too soon. The young man was shot during an armed robbery at an illegal marijuana dispensary. During the initial stages of litigation, the defense was successful in having the court throw out the case on several grounds pursuant to their motion for summary judgment. We did not give up. Our office appealed this decision with the help of appellate counsel and overturned the lower court’s decision and had the case reinstated. This led to the insurance carrier ultimately paying the full insurance policy limits to the family once they realized that trial was unavoidable and a person’s life is worth far more than any insurance policy.
